PlayStation 5 consoles

Sony shipped 3.4 million PlayStation 5 consoles in the first four weeks of the device’s release. This puts the latest console ahead of the results that the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch achieved during their first month of release.

It is suggested that Microsoft's Xbox Series X / S consoles have sold over two million, but it is noted that this number represents shipments delivered and not consoles purchased by end-users.

The main reason why Sony is a leader in delivery is early production, which means the company had multiple copies of the consoles in stock before release.

Sony aims to ship between 16.8 and 18 million PlayStation 5 systems in 2021, making the model the company's most successful console to date.
