This year's Redmi phones will have 108MP cameras

Lou Weibing, general manager of the Redmi brand, has hinted that a large number of phones will arrive this year with 100MP camera sensors. The information comes after the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G model with a 108MP main camera was released in China in December.

This suggests that upcoming Redmi phones could also implement 108MP camera sensors. Weibing also points out that Redmi phones do not have ToF sensors, which some manufacturers have previously focused on, and that instead Redmi fans could expect more phones with sensors of 100MP or more.

The Redmi K40 line, which is expected to be released in February, could integrate a 108MP sensor for the main camera. The Redmi K30 line had a 64MP sensor, which provides the basis for upgrading the camera on the models from the next line.

The Redmi K40 is expected to run a chipset from the Snapdragon 700 series, while the Redmi K40 Pro will reportedly use the Snapdragon 888 chipset.
