The creators of Subnautica became part of the PUBG family
Independent studio Unknown Worlds, responsible for the development of Subnautica, will soon join Krafton, the parent company of PUBG Studios. It is an unusual acquisition that has received a lot of negative reactions from many fans of Unknown Worlds, but also independent studies in general. Primarily because of the opinion that he will no longer have the freedom he had before.
In his statement, Krafton calms tensions and assures people that Unknown Worlds will continue to work in the same way - as an independent studio. According to the information, the agreement between the parent company PUBG and the creators of Subnautica fell because both companies have a similar view of the games and their development. Krafton also boasted that the acquisition of UW is a good move as it expands its IPs and enriches the portfolio with innovative titles.
Unknown Worlds will thus become the sixth studio under Krafton's baton. In addition to the aforementioned studio, this large family also includes PUBG Studios, Bluehole Studio, Striking Distance Studios, RisingWings, and Dreamotion.
