AyaNeo Air wants to be a competition to Steam Deck, with a better screen
Steam Deck is not the first handheld PC of its kind. There have been similar devices for portable PC gaming before, and one of the most famous names in the field was AyaNeo. That is, AyaNeo devices have not disappeared with the advent of SteamDeck the only problem is that they are significantly more expensive than Valve's solution. But the arrival of Steam Deck forced AyaNeo to change tactics somewhat. Now they have announced a new series of products that are priced even lower than Steam Deck.
The standard model will be called the AyaNeo Air and will cost $ 549 in a version with a 128GB drive and 8GB of RAM. It is a device powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor with Vega graphics, and its main hope and advantage over the Steam Deck is a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with 1080p resolution. In this aspect, AyaNeo promises a better picture than Steam Deck, and it should not be overlooked that this device, unlike Steam Deck, is based on Windows.
But the standard model of this handheld PC will not be the cheapest either.
There will also be an Aya Neo Air Plus that will sell for $ 289.
That model will run AMD’s Mendocino APU, so its performance will be poorer.
But on the other hand, the Plus model will have a slightly larger 6-inch
AMOLED screen.
Just as Air suggests in the name, the new AyaNeo
will be a slim and lightweight device - in stark contrast to Steam Deck. And
that’s great news until you wonder what’s up with the battery. And the battery
is something the manufacturers had to save on to keep the device slim, so
AyaNeo Air won’t be designed for long-term gaming. In translation - 3D games
will be able to play up to 60 minutes on a single charge, which is why
the portability of the device itself is questionable.
