Next-Gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 in the second half of this year!

Cyberpunk 2077 is a long-awaited game that has long been announced as one of the revolutionary games, which should take full advantage of the latest consoles, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

Cyberpunk 2077 is also a game that has been delayed several times, its release date has been postponed, but we tolerated it all to the Warsaw development team because we expected the final product to be great. We had a basis for such expectations because the CD Project Red has already shown in the past that it knows how to do a good job with its The Witcher games.

But after the game finally came out, a lot of us were left unpleasantly surprised. This was especially true of players on consoles. The game was full of mistakes, which made it almost unplayable, especially the first few weeks. The damage was great, the players got a refund, but the question arose, what next? What about the version of the game for the new generation consoles, ie for the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X?

In a short video statement released yesterday, which also served as an apology to players, which should still be commended, Red Project CD co-founder Marcin Iwinski confirmed that the Cyberpunk 2077 update for next-generation consoles will arrive in the second half of 2021. focus on solving technical problems, which have so far been faced by players from consoles and Windows computers, of which there are many.

Cyberpunk 2077 and can now be played on Next-Gen consoles

Cyberpunk 2077 can already be played (with surprisingly fewer problems) on next-generation consoles, thanks to its backward compatibility, which both the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X has, but the official version of the game for Xbox Series X and PS5 has not been released. The biggest reason the game is on a sort of hold for new consoles is that the current version of the game is full of bugs. A large number of players with the Xbox One and PS4 consoles claim that the errors are so great that the game is almost impossible to play. Although the game works much better on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, bugs are still present.

Iwinski apologized for how Cyberpunk 2077 ended up on consoles and added that CD Project Red plans to release several updates to address ongoing issues, before releasing free DLC content and official versions of the game for new generations of consoles. He said players can still expect a free next-generation release for Cyberpunk 2077, which will come out before the end of 2021, more specifically “our goal is the second half of the year,” as Iwinski said.

Delaying the creation of the game for next-generation consoles for the second half of the year gives CD Project Red considerable time to resolve technical errors on current console versions. Iwinski said the "main culprit" for problems with console versions is the limited bandwidth that the PS4 and Xbox One have.

Both consoles were released on the market in 2013. CD Project Red has already released three "patches" for console versions of the game, with Iwinski saying players should expect additional updates in the next few months and hopefully) should solve all or at least most of the existing solutions. Likewise, Iwinski believes that players on next-generation consoles will have no problems, given that the PS5 and Xbox Series X are technical, hardware-wise, but also software-wise superior to the PS4 and Xbox One.

The game version for next-generation consoles will be more than a port

Upgrading the game and designing it for next-generation consoles will be more than just a port, as the Project Projekt CD said the upgrades will take full advantage of everything the technology can offer, the Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles. If this is true, upgraded versions are likely to be a big improvement over current versions of the game for consoles.

This means that on the PS5 version of Cyberpunk 2077 we will have to play with more frames per second, the graphics should of course be much better (better than the version for Windows computers or not), the loading time of the game should be much shorter, which will be able to thank Playstation’s new SSD, and there’s Ray Tracing technology, something many hope will show its full potential on next-generation consoles.

A proper and refined upgrade could also make the game much better thanks to the PS5 controller, which comes with new and improved haptic features, although the Project Projekt CD has not confirmed whether the PS5 version of the game will use that technology from the Playstation 5.

Iwinski did not specify what exactly the free DLC content CD Project Red planned, but it is almost certain that the DLC will be similar to the free content released by the development team after the release of their renowned game The Witcher 3, which included new sets of clothes, generally new cosmetics. character changes, but also new missions. Free DLC should be available for consoles before the console version of the game is released
