We have 20 minutes of gameplay from Path of Exile 2, Diablo will have fierce competition

The Grinding Gear team gave us a fair insight into their new game last night - Path of Exile 2. Although this hack'n'slash RPG isn't even close to coming out (the first tests should start only in the middle of 2022), we got 20-minute gameplay, as well as a shorter montage showing what the game is preparing in its second act, of the seven promised acts.

That part of the game will take place in a desert called Vastira, and the player's task will be to open the door to a nomadic caravan passing through that desert. To do this, they will need to go through a bunch of tunnels and of course - clean them of anything that moves. The good news is that this act will have a non-linear structure and the player will be able to choose the order in which they will solve the tasks within it.

In this gameplay view, we also see two new types of weapons: spears and crossbows. Both weapons are designed with a focus on player mobility, and below you can check out all the ways they are used.

All in all, Path of Exile 2 looks great. Direct comparisons to Diablo 4 will be inevitable - primarily because both games will appear in the same year. Who will emerge victorious from that battle - time will tell. But one of the things that stand on the side of Path of Exile 2 is that the game, unlike Diablo, will be in a free-to-play format, just like its first part.
