The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim in Unreal Engine 5

The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim in Unreal Engine 5

The first games in Unreal Engine 5 are still eagerly awaited. Fortnite doesn’t count, and Matrix Awakens is just a tech demo. In that anticipation, various developers tickle our imagination with their experiments. The most recent of these is Skyrim in Unreal Engine 5.

Of course, Skyrim is a huge game that would require a team of hundreds of developers to switch to Unreal Engine 5. But one developer - Christian Gomm - is enough to build one part of the map. He recently demonstrated the charms of the new Unreal in Skyrim’s city of Riverwood, which he recreated to the smallest detail.

His experiment will not be publicly available, but you can watch a video demonstration of the same. Some will say that Skyrim can already look like this with 100+ modifications, but it is still impressive how this is what was done with Unreal Engine 5 in just a few days. Who knows - maybe for the 20th anniversary of Skyrim we get Skyrim: Unreal Edition?
