Gamers were amazed to hear that Cyberpunk 2077 will have multiplayer, especially since CD Project Red has not made games with this mode so far. Also, there are a lot of doubts about how multiplayer will be implemented, as it is certain that no one wants a poorly designed mode that will be attached to the main segment of the game.
Adam Kicinski stated that multiplayer should not be viewed as a mod at all, but that it is almost a separate game on which a huge team is working. He added that initially multiplayer was presented as a concept and that it was only after much deliberation that they decided to start developing this mod. Unfortunately, multiplayer will not come out when the single-player campaign, but sometime during 2021.
As for the way they envisioned the interaction between players, Adam said that some things from single-player mode will be present in multiplayer as well, but that there will be special content strictly aimed at multiplayer mode. It is speculated that this concept will be similar to Rockstar's GTA Online and Red Dead Online, but it is too early to draw conclusions from the information known so far. Kicinski concluded that he would publish more information related to multiplayer in the first quarter of next year.
