S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 could be the first game on Unreal Engine 5 we play
When we first saw S.T.A.L.K.E.R. two months ago. 2 in action, we noticed that his graphics are quite attractive. At the time, it was still believed that the game was made in Unreal Engine - after all, the game had been in development for 3-4 years. However, GSC Gameworld is now revealing how their game uses Unreal Engine 5, the latest version of Epic’s engine.
It was discovered almost by the way, after it was said on the Twitter profile of Unreal Engine that more than 80 projects are currently under development on Unreal Engine 5.

Feel free to mention we're running on UE5 🤝 https://t.co/GLXdLM5YoV
Unreal Engine 5 is the foundation for games to run on the current generation of hardware. With that in mind, it makes sense for Stalker 2 to use UE5 because the game is not in development for old consoles. Still, it sounds rather strange that Stalker 2 could be a debut game for Unreal Engine 5. Namely, it is the only announced game that uses UE5 and has a release date - April 28, 2022.
Whether GSC Gameworld will be able to complete the game by that date is another story. But the fact is that by 2022 we probably won’t be playing any games on Unreal Engine 5, and other games that are in development on Unreal Engine 5 (that we currently know about) are unlikely to be ready by 2023.
