Xbox no longer requires a subscription to play free games online

Today, what was announced earlier is coming true - to play online multiplayer free-to-play games on Xbox consoles, you will no longer need to subscribe to Xbox Live Gold. That is, to play free games on the Xbox will no longer need to pay Microsoft's "tribute", which finally "Xbox" equates with other consoles (PS4, PS5, Switch) that have not required a subscription to play free-to-play titles for years.

This significant change for audiences on the Xbox will include more than 50 games, which include popular multiplayer games such as Call of Duty Warzone, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Rocket League, Destiny 2, World of Tanks, Warframe, Roblox, and others.

This does not mean that a subscription to Xbox Live Gold will no longer be required. Games that are not free-to-play, or all paid titles, will still require an active subscription to play online multiplayer.
