Steam Awards 2021 nominations have been revealed

Tomorrow starts Steam Winter Sale, and with discounts and voting for the best games on Steam. In recent weeks, Steam users have nominated games in eight categories, and Valve has gently steered them toward games that came out during 2021.

Namely, in previous editions of the Steam Awards, people mostly nominated the same (old) things. The Witcher 3 has famously been nominated for Steam Awards for a total of four years in the five years since its launch, most recently in 2020 - without the game receiving any updates or official additions. This time Witcher is not on the list, and most of the nominated games appeared during 2021.

However, there are several controversial nominations. For example, for the game with the best story, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition was nominated, while the excellent Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was left without a nomination. Is it fair for a remastered collection of games over ten years old to win the championship over one current game? According to Valve's criteria, nothing is in dispute here.
