The creator of The Witcher 3 has left CDPR

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the man who is perhaps most responsible for what turned out to be The Witcher 3 (one of the best games of the generation) has left the CD Project. At the last Witcher, he was the game director, and he also played a big role in the development of Cyberpunk 2077.

Tomaszkiewicz was the design director at the development of Cyberpunk 2077 and is leaving CD Projekt after alleged allegations of harassment of subordinates. An internal investigation acquitted him of such accusations, so at least the commission that investigated the whole case concluded, but he still decided to leave the company.

Stressful development of Cyberpunk

Bloomberg also revealed the contents of a farewell email in which Tomaszkiewicz told colleagues that he had resigned so that other employees would not be under stress working for him. “Many who work with me feel fear, discomfort and are under stress,” admits Tomaszkiewicz, who is a very demanding person, and then apologized to everyone and promised to work on his character.

Who knows, if he had had an even bigger position on the development of Cyberpunk, he might not have come out in the shabby state he is in. Bloomberg reveals that Tomaszkiewicz also played a pivotal role in the development of the new Witcher, which is apparently at least already in some sort of pre-production within the CD Project.

With the departure of one of the most important people, the black line of CD Project continues after the release of Cyberpunk 2077, and it includes mass lawsuits, removal of games from PS Store, hacking of servers, theft of source codes, public appearances of disgruntled employees… but also one good thing - CD Project behind has financially the most successful year in history.
